2008 PARATUS

THE WINE ADVOCATE

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon shows gorgeous depth in its bouquet. Deep layers of dark red fruit, flowers, mint and anise flow gracefully from this beautifully delineated Cabernet.

- Antonio Galloni

WINE SPECTATOR

Impressive for its mix of dense, concentrated fruit and structure, offering floral aromas, with dried berry, mineral, black cherry and plum fruit that firms up nicely on the finish, pushing past the ripe, fine-grained tannins.

– James Laube

2009 PARATUS

THE WINE ADVOCATE

Layers of dark red fruit, mocha and sweet spices take shape nicely in the glass. … a plush, surprisingly open Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon.

– Antonio Galloni

INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR

Deeply pitched aromas of cherry, toasty oak, mint and pipe tobacco.  Concentrated but lively and fresh. Finishes long and sweet, with supple tannins sneaking in on the late side. This fruit-driven cab is accessible now but has the depth to age.

- Stephen Tanzer

MS NOTES

With our focus on small, artisanal producers, Paratus was a great addition to our portfolio.  It is 100% Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2009 delivers a firm, deeply flavored wine with considerable length and complexity.  While quite approachable in its youth, we have been tempted to tuck a case or two away with complete faith that 10-15 years aging will be worth the wait.

2010 PARATUS

THE WINE ADVOCATE

The 2010 Paratus Cabernet Sauvignon is endowed with attractive scents of menthol, licorice, black fruit, smoke, leather and tobacco. Veins of underlying energy and focus complement the wine’s juicy personality.

- Antonio Galloni

INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR

Deep ruby. Spicy cherry, blackberry, mocha and toasty oak on the nose.  Shows very good intensity and clarity, with vibrant cherry and bitter chocolate flavors and a spine of juicy acidity providing structure. Lively and precise cabernet, with youthfully chewy tannins building and adding framework to sweet dark fruit on the finish.

- Stephen Tanzer

WINE ENTHUSIAST

From an estate vineyard high atop Mount Veeder, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is dark and inky, concentrated in color and flavor, a brambly intensity at the center of it all. Peppercorns and clove accent its larger smoky, espresso side, the body full and velvety.

- Virginie Boone

MS NOTES

A brooding nose of black olive, cedar and blackberry.  Slightly leafy, with a touch of mint and eucalyptus, atop brambly, dark wild fruit.  Grilled meat, black pepper and roasted peppers.

Black tea, tobacco leaf, cedar and olive.  This wine is structured and compact, so youthful and tightly wound, with ripe blackberry and currant, black plum and espresso.  Rich earth, smoky, focused, and finishes with power and medium fine tannins.  I love how serious this wine is.

– Chris Blanchard, Master Sommelier

2011 PARATUS

Your vineyard is wonderful and the wine produced is probably among the very best we ever tasted in Napa. It shows perfectly the soul of the place that is the sub-soil.

- Jean-Michel Comme, Chateau Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

Despite the cool vintage, the 2011 Paratus reveals both high acidity and excellent ripeness. It shows lovely black and red fruit aromas with hints of a wild character and minerals. On the palate it shows dry herbs, bay leaf, soft round tannins and a persistent finish. This wine is drinking beautifully now.

- International Wine Review

2012 PARATUS

The 2012 Paratus is riper than the 2011. It exhibits a dark ruby purple and aromas of roasted meat, earth and dark berry fruit. It has a fleshy palate with hints of pepper, earth, and slate. It has firm dry tannins, and should drink well within five years.
